Five Palestinians injured, machinery burned and seven detained in colonist attacks across southern Hebron

HEBRON, August 21, 2026 (WAFA) — Five Palestinians were injured and machinery and equipment were set ablaze on Friday in attacks carried out by Israeli colonists across several areas in southern Hebron, while Israeli forces detained seven Palestinians.

Palestinian security sources told WAFA that a group of armed colonists attacked Palestinian homes with stones in the Deir Shams area, near the towns of Al-Dhahiriya and Al-Samou, south of Hebron, injuring five Palestinians and stealing several sheep.

The colonists also attacked a Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance, smashing its windows and preventing it from reaching the injured.

In a separate incident, another group of colonists attacked a stone quarry belonging to Palestinian citizen Khaled al-Za'arir east of the town of Al-Samou. They set fire to several vehicles and pieces of equipment after painting racist slogans on the quarry walls threatening Arabs with death and expulsion.

Al-Za'arir told WAFA that the colonists attacked his quarry at around 4 a.m., burning a bulldozer, three stone-cutting machines, two heavy vehicles and other equipment, causing substantial financial losses.

Meanwhile, activist Osama Makhamreh told WAFA that a group of colonists raided the home of Palestinian citizen Ibrahim al-Jabbarin in the Shaab al-Butm area of Masafer Yatta and damaged his belongings. Israeli forces subsequently raided the area and detained al-Jabbarin and his son Jibril, along with two local Palestinian citizens.

Palestinian security sources also reported that Israeli forces raided the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, and detained three Palestinians after raiding their homes, searching them and damaging their contents.
