Israeli forces demolish around 20 seasonal shelters for farmers north of Jericho

JERICHO, August 13, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces demolished around 20 seasonal shelters used by Palestinian farmers in the Al-Makhrouq area of al-Jiftlik village, north of Jericho and the Jordan Valley, on Thursday.

Firas Jahalin, head of the al-Jiftlik village council, told WAFA that Israeli military vehicles demolished around 20 shelters made of plastic, corrugated metal sheets and cement, including three inhabited shelters. All of the shelters are used seasonally by farmers who come to the area every September to work in agriculture, tend their crops and make the necessary preparations.

He said the shelters provide accommodation for farmers during their work on their land, but that when they return next September, they will find their shelters demolished and no longer standing.

Jahalin added that Israeli forces have also issued demolition notices for around 40 permanent shelters belonging to livestock owners in the al-Daisat community in al-Jiftlik.
