Minister Shahin discusses with Egyptian counterpart mobilization of intl. action against illegal Israeli policies in Jerusalem

Amman, Aug. 5, 2026 (WAFA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Aghabekian Shahin on Wednesday discussed with her Egyptian counterpart the need to mobilize international action against Israeli policies and measures in occupied Jerusalem.

On the sidelines of a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Arab member states of the Arab Ministerial Committee tasked with mobilizing such action in Amman, Minister Shahin briefed Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty on the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian Territory and ways to enhance joint coordination and communication.

Minister Shahin stressed that the Palestinian leadership and government seek to bolster the Palestinian people’s steadfastness on their homeland and to thwart displacement plans. She underscored the need for Arab and Islamic countries to take practical steps and measures to influence the US administration’s position in a manner that contributes to safeguarding the Palestinian people’s inalienable legitimate rights.

The two ministers agreed to further develop coordination and communication during the coming period in support of Arab and international efforts aimed at halting Israel’s genocidal aggression, protecting the Palestinian people, and strengthening the Palestinian political position.

For his part, Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and statehood and stressed the unity of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip as one territorial entity.

He reiterated Egypt's categorical rejection of Israeli plans aimed at separating the Gaza Strip from the West Bank, describing such plans as a direct threat to Egypt's national security.
