Burning of displaced Palestinians’ tents near Yellow Line in Khan Younis raises fears of renewed displacement toward al-Mawasi

KHAN YOUNIS, October 19, 2026 (WAFA) – Fires broke out last night in several tents sheltering displaced Palestinians near the Yellow Line on Salah al-Din Street, east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, after Israeli quadcopter drones dropped incendiary bombs on the area, setting several tents ablaze.

The sudden attack triggered widespread fear and panic, particularly among women and children, as families rushed to extinguish the spreading flames.

Eyewitnesses told WAFA correspondent that several tents were completely destroyed by the fire, but no casualties or injuries were reported.

Witnesses added that the threat of further attacks forced numerous families living near the Yellow Line to flee into the night, carrying whatever personal belongings they could salvage.

The displaced Palestinians expressed fears that the burning of the tents could herald a new wave of displacement toward al-Mawasi, amid growing concerns over repeated attacks. Such displacement would further compound their suffering and deepen uncertainty about their fate and where they might find shelter in the coming days.
