Occupation forces set up checkpoints, hindering the movement of Palestinians north and northeast of Ramallah

RAMALLAH, October 19, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces hindered the movement of Palestinians this Tuesday morning, north and northeast of Ramallah.

Local sources reported that the occupation forces set up a military checkpoint near the "Tarbiya wa Ta’lim" (Education) neighborhood, on the main road between Ramallah and the Al-Jalazun refugee camp, causing severe traffic congestion.

The forces also established a checkpoint at the entrance to the town of Al-Mazra'a ash-Sharqiya, northeast of Ramallah, further obstructing the movement of residents in the villages and towns located north and northeast of the city.

According to data from the Commission Against the Wall and Settlements and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), there are currently 942 checkpoints, closure points, and physical barriers across the West Bank—comprising 824 permanent checkpoints or closure points and 118 linear obstacles—stretching over a total length of approximately 107.7 kilometers.
