JERUSALEM, June 7, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli forces on Sunday evening detained five Palestinian farmers from the town of Beit Anan, northwest of occupied Jerusalem.
According to the Jerusalem Governorate, the farmers were detained while working on their agricultural lands before being detained. The detainees were identified as Arafat Al-Hanawi, Khalil Al-Hanawi, Nader Harb Hamid, Salah Hamid, and Mohammad Mustafa.
The governorate said Israeli forces justified the detention by claiming that the farmers had approached a settlement outpost established on lands in the area.
The detentions come amid ongoing restrictions imposed on Palestinian residents, including limitations on access to agricultural lands and obstacles to land cultivation and development.
Agricultural lands in and around Beit Anan have been subjected to repeated actions by Israeli forces and settlers, including restrictions on movement and access to farmland. Palestinian officials say such measures are part of broader policies aimed at expanding settlement activity and increasing control over Palestinian land.
