CEC continues to receive media and observer accreditation applications for 2026 Local Elections

AL-BIREH, March 23, 2026 (WAFA) – The Central Elections Commission (CEC) confirmed today, Monday, that it continues to receive accreditation applications from observer organizations, media outlets, and journalists to cover the 2026 Local Elections, scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026. The Commission also underscored the critical role of observers and the media in strengthening the transparency and integrity of the electoral process.

The CEC reported that, to date, 50 observation bodies from Palestinian Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have been accredited, deploying a total of 800 observers across polling centers and stations to monitor and oversee the electoral process.

Furthermore, the CEC has accredited 52 local and international media organizations, along with 360 local and international journalists, who will cover the various stages of the elections for public reporting.

The CEC explained that accrediting observers and journalists reflects its commitment to openness and transparency, providing observer bodies and the media with the opportunity to monitor the electoral process in a way that strengthens its integrity and reinforces citizens’ confidence in the results.

The CEC concluded by affirming its ongoing efforts to conduct the local elections as scheduled, noting that on March 31 it will publish the final list of candidates—as they will appear on the ballot—on its website, as well as at local authorities and CEC district offices.
