Weather: Low-pressure system affects country; drop in temperature

RAMALLAH, December 15, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD) said that that the country will be affected today by a low-pressure system accompanied by a cold air mass.

The weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy and cold, especially over the mountainous areas, with scattered light rain expected in some areas. Starting in the afternoon, scattered rain showers are expected over most areas, becoming heavy at times and accompanied by thunderstorms. Winds will be northwesterly to southeasterly, light to moderate, occasionally becoming active. Sea waves will be moderate.

In the evening and night, the weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy and cold, with scattered showers expected over most areas, becoming heavy at times and accompanied by thunderstorms and hail. Winds will be southeasterly to northwesterly, moderate to active. Sea waves will be moderate.

The country will continue to be affected by the low-pressure system on Tuesday, with a drop in temperatures. The weather will be partly cloudy and cold, especially in the mountainous regions. Scattered rain showers are expected across most of the country, possibly accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional hail. The chance of precipitation will decrease in the evening and overnight. Winds will be moderate, blowing from the southeast to northwest. Sea waves will be moderately rough.

On Wednesday, the weather will be partly cloudy with little change in temperatures. It will remain cold, especially in the mountains. There is still a chance of light, scattered rain in some areas during the morning. Winds will be moderate, blowing from the northwest and occasionally becoming stronger. Sea waves will be moderately rough.

Meanwhile on Thursday, the weather will be generally clear with a rise in temperatures, although it will remain cold, especially in the mountains. Winds will be light to moderate, blowing from the southeast to northwest and occasionally becoming stronger, and the sea will be calm to slight.

The PMD warned, during the country’s exposure to the low-pressure system, of the risk of flash floods and flooding in valleys and low-lying areas, especially in the south and east, slippery roads, reduced horizontal visibility, and lower temperatures.
