Palestine Coach Ihab Abu Jazar affirms team’s readiness for crucial match against Syria

RAMALLAH, December 6, 2025 (WAFA) – Palestine national team head coach Ihab Abu Jazar confirmed the team's readiness for their crucial match against Syria on Sunday, in the final round of the group stage of the 2025 Arab Cup, emphasizing that the primary objective is to advance to the next round.

During a press conference, Abu Jazar said the team delivered a strong performance against Qatar and Tunisia, affirming his desire to see the same fighting spirit repeated against Syria.

"Qualification is our priority. For us, it's a three-point match, and we always aim for victory. We know we are facing a tough opponent, and we are not surprised by their level in the tournament. They have proven they possess exceptional players with individual and collective skills, and they play well in transitions."

He affirmed that the Palestinian and Syrian teams share many tactical similarities, which will make the match even more challenging. Still he voiced confidence that the Palestinian players will be at their best and deliver an outstanding performance.

He noted that physical fatigue after the matches against Qatar and Tunisia is the biggest concern for the coaching staff. However , he confirmed that all the players are fit, with no injuries or absences, thanks to the intensive recovery work led by the fitness coach.

"We have outstanding players. We are  playing without pressure, and that has helped us achieve good results since the start of the tournament."

"Every match and every tournament is an opportunity to prove ourselves, and through the Arab Cup, we are sending a message to the world that we are a people who love life, and what the players offer on the field is an expression of the spirit and determination of our people."

For his part, player Ahmed Taha confirmed that the national team delivered a great performance against Tunisia, indicating that the players displayed a fantastic level of play and are looking forward to repeating that performance against Syria.

"Every match we play is important, and our focus now is on facing Syria, who have proven their readiness to compete in the tournament."

The match will take place at 7:00 PM Jerusalem time, with Qatar facing Tunisia simultaneously.

Palestine currently tops the group with 4 points, ahead of Syria on goal difference. Tunisia sits third with one point, ahead of Qatar on goal difference.
