RAMALLAH, November 25, 2025 (WAFA) - A formal agreement was signed on Tuesday to supply the city of Hebron with electricity from the Beit Ula station through the Palestinian Electricity Transmission Company, for the benefit of the Hebron Electricity Company, with funding from the World Bank.
The signing ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Energy Authority in Ramallah under the patronage and in the presence of Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa.
In his address, the Prime Minister said the government is moving forward at an accelerated pace to implement the Energy Security Initiative, with the aim of strengthening national capabilities in energy production and improving infrastructure. He noted that the coming period will see increased efforts to develop the legislative and infrastructural environment, leading toward greater independence in the energy sector.
Mustafa expressed his satisfaction with the completion of the agreement, describing it as a major step that will provide essential additional requirements to support the resilience of citizens and contribute to significant economic and social development in Hebron Governorate.
He emphasized that the electricity file in the Gaza Strip is receiving full attention, calling for coordinated efforts to rapidly rebuild the sector.
He pointed to ongoing government efforts to provide essential supplies to rehabilitate the electricity grid, solar power systems, and energy storage units for vital facilities, which are being prepared for shipment to Gaza as soon as conditions allow.
