RAMALLAH, July 29, 2025 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa affirmed Monday that "the Palestinian people have the right to live in freedom and dignity in their homeland, just as every nation in the world deserves to live in peace and security.
However, this can only be achieved by realizing the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people—foremost among them, the right to self-determination, the right of return, and the establishment of the independent, sovereign State of Palestine on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side with Israel in peace and security."
"The international community must therefore move beyond expressions of condemnation and denunciation and take concrete measures to compel Israel to halt all annexation and settlement activities, including colonial-settler violence and terror, killings, arrests, restrictions on movement, attacks on refugee camps, villages, and cities, as well as preventing the return of displaced Palestinians.
He added that these measures also include attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites, withholding Palestinian tax revenues, and threats aimed at crippling the Palestinian banking sector—in a systematic effort to destroy the State of Palestine and the two-State solution," he added.
The Prime Minister’s remarks were delivered during the plenary session of the UN High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held at the UN General Assembly Hall in New York.
The session was attended by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, General Assembly President Dennis Francis, and other high-level delegates.
"We are confident that this conference will contribute to ending the war on Gaza, ending the Israeli occupation, and realizing the sovereign Palestinian state. This includes mobilizing political, financial, and economic support for the Government of Palestine to enable it to strengthen state institutions and implement its reform plan. To achieve this, we call for convening a donor conference as soon as possible."
"Do not accept any justification from Israel for its targeting of Palestinian civilians, doctors and medical personnel, humanitarian teams, journalists, and its imposition of collective punishment on the Gaza Strip and its people," he said.
"This also includes the destruction of homes, hospitals, schools, mosques, churches—even cemeteries—and all essentials of life in Gaza. Israel then deliberately obstructs the entry of humanitarian aid, preventing its safe distribution, and killing those who seek to access it."
Prime Minister Mustafa called for urgent resolutions and measures to halt aggression, starvation, and forced displacement, and to send a clear message:
Enough disregard for the life and dignity of the Palestinian people.
