RAMALLAH, August 3, 2026 (WAFA) — Chinese Ambassador to the State of Palestine Sun Zhen reaffirmed on Monday China's unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause, continuing to provide humanitarian and development assistance, and working to elevate Palestinian-Chinese relations to new levels.
During a press conference held on Monday, at the Chinese Embassy in Ramallah, Ambassador Zhen stated that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. He noted that the Party has led China to achieve significant accomplishments in development and socio-economic stability, based on socialism with Chinese characteristics.
He said his meetings with the Palestinian leadership had reinforced his awareness of the hardships facing the Palestinian people, stressing that China will continue strengthening bilateral ties, particularly as this year marks the third anniversary of the establishment of the China-Palestine strategic partnership.
He pointed out that his country is working on implementing development projects in the West Bank, including infrastructure projects such as artificial turf fields, a Chinese school, Beijing Street, and the Palestinian-Chinese Friendship Square. He affirmed China's continued support for the resilience of the Palestinian people on their land.
The Chinese ambassador reiterated his country's support for Palestinian national rights, stating that China supports the establishment of a fully sovereign and independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution. He added that China rejects all measures that undermine this solution, including settlement expansion in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
Zhen further stated that China has consistently voted in favor of international resolutions supporting Palestinian rights, including UN Security Council Resolution 2334 and Human Rights Council resolutions condemning settlements. China also prohibits investment in and employment in Israeli settlements.
He emphasized that Chinese diplomatic efforts have continued uninterrupted since the outbreak of the war on the Gaza Strip, calling for the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, and allowing international organizations to operate freely in the Strip.
He explained that China is cooperating with the World Food Programme to alleviate food insecurity in the Gaza Strip. He also noted that China has provided clothing benefiting 38,000 children in the Strip and has contributed $1 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) for food distribution in the West Bank, affirming China's continued support for UNRWA and the Palestinian people.
Zhen emphasized China's opposition to unilateral measures that obstruct peace efforts and said Beijing will continue supporting Palestine in development, training, and infrastructure projects.
On education, he highlighted China's support for Chinese-language education in Palestine, noting that the first Chinese language institute opened at Al-Quds University in 2019 and now serves more than 4,000 students.
The ambassador stressed that the current priority is achieving a ceasefire and rebuilding the Gaza Strip, expressing his hope that the Strip will witness a broad development boom after the end of the war.
He concluded by affirming that China, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, will continue its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and work with the Palestinian leadership to implement the understandings reached between President Mahmoud Abbas and Chinese President Xi Jinping, and to launch new projects that contribute to improving the lives of the Palestinian people, developing their economy, and strengthening their resilience on their land.
