Protests in Arab town of Deir al-Asad over Israeli demolition orders threatening 14 residential buildings

DEIR AL-ASAD, August 2, 2026 (WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinian citizens of Israel in the Arab town of Deir al-Asad inside Israel on Sunday participated in a public meeting with the local council to discuss efforts to halt and freeze Israeli demolition orders recently issued against 14 residential buildings in the town.

The meeting followed a protest held by dozens of residents on Saturday evening against the demolition orders, amid fears that the demolitions could be carried out without prior notice in the coming days.

The protesters discussed legal avenues for challenging the orders, calling on the local council to assume its responsibilities, take immediate action, and coordinate with all relevant parties to secure a freeze on the demolition orders.
