RAMALLAH, August 3, 2026 (WAFA) — Palestinian presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh said Israeli authorities are continuing their comprehensive war against the Palestinian people despite the announced agreement to implement the second phase of the ceasefire, citing the killing of 18 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday as the latest example.
He added that the agreement to implement the second phase of the ceasefire has become “an agreement on paper and death on the ground.” It has not led to a comprehensive cessation of aggression or the protection of the Palestinian people.
He warned against Israel’s disregard for international efforts aimed at ending the alleged crimes against Palestinians, stressing the danger of continued Israeli attacks targeting Palestinian refugee camps and villages and their destruction as part of what he called a broader effort to undermine Palestinian presence and eliminate the refugee issue.
The presidential spokesperson reiterated the Palestinian leadership's demand that the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, assume its responsibilities towards the Palestinian people and take immediate and decisive steps to compel the occupation authorities to immediately implement the second phase of the agreement, halt Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, and provide urgent international protection for the Palestinian people.
He further stressed that the continued impunity of the occupation encourages it to further violate the provisions of international law and international humanitarian law, stressing that there will be no security or stability in the region except by ending the occupation, stopping the aggression, and paving the way for a just and lasting peace based on the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
