NABLUS, August 2, 2026 (WAFA) – A Palestinian ministerial delegation on Sunday toured the towns and villages of Beit Furik, Beit Dajan, Sarra, and Tell in the Nablus Governorate, under the directives of Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, to assess the damage caused by attacks carried out by Israeli occupation forces and terrorist colonists and identify residents' most urgent needs and challenges.
The delegation was headed by Minister of Local Government and Chair of the Ministerial Committee for Emergency Affairs Sami Hijjawi. It included Minister of Interior Ziad Hab al-Reeh, Minister of Social Development Samah Hamad, Minister of Transport and Communications Mohammad Farouq al-Ahmad, Nablus Governor Ghassan Daghlas, senior officials from several ministries, representatives of the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, and local government officials.
Minister of Local Government and Chair of the Ministerial Committee for Emergency Affairs Sami Hijjawi conveyed the Prime Minister's greetings to local councils and residents, praising the steadfastness and unity of the Palestinian people in the face of escalating attacks by Israeli occupation forces and terrorist colonists.
Hijjawi added that the Ministerial Committee for Emergency Affairs, established by a decision of the Palestinian Cabinet, closely monitors, through its technical committee, all damage caused by colonist attacks and assaults, as well as incursions by Israeli occupation forces into cities, towns, and refugee camps. He noted that these efforts reflect the government’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people, strengthening their steadfastness, and ensuring the provision of the necessary assistance and support.
He also highlighted the numerous interventions undertaken by the Ministerial Committee for Emergency Affairs to support Palestinians forcibly displaced from the Nur Shams, Tulkarm, and Jenin refugee camps, as well as from other areas across the occupied Palestinian Territory, as part of its national responsibilities, despite the government’s difficult financial circumstances and the significant challenges it continues to face.
Governor Ghassan Daghlas said the visit reflects the government's commitment, under the directives of President Mahmoud Abbas, to communicate directly with Palestinian citizens on the ground, assess the actual situation, needs, and demands, and work to address them according to priorities and within available resources, ensuring the continued provision of services to citizens and strengthening their steadfastness.
During the tour, the delegation heard demands related to infrastructure development, healthcare, education, agricultural support, water and electricity services, building permits, completion of a multi-purpose hall in Beit Dajan, restoration of homes and property damaged in attacks, and rehabilitation of land bulldozed by Israeli forces.
In response to urgent requests, Hijjawi said that the Ministry of Local Government would urgently review applications for the licensing of a number of buildings in the visited areas, taking into account their exceptional circumstances.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Transport and Communications instructed the Nablus Directorate to facilitate the free issuance of licenses for agricultural tractors in Beit Furik in support of farmers.
He also called on Sarra Municipality to expedite the formation of a volunteer civil defense team, provide its members with the necessary training, and equip them with the tools required to respond to emergencies. He affirmed that the relevant ministries would continue providing support to the towns in line with their plans and priorities.
