Israeli forces shut down Jaba’ Checkpoint, target Palestinian vehicles with tear gas

JERUSALEM, 30 June 2025 (Wafa) – Israeli occupation forces Monday evening closed the Jaba’ military checkpoint northeast of occupied Jerusalem, disrupting the movement of civilians and causing a severe traffic jam.

Several drivers reported that Israeli forces fired tear gas canisters and stun grenades toward vehicles near the checkpoint and seized the keys of several cars.

Since the ceasefire in Gaza went into effect on January 19, the Israeli occupation has intensified its military measures in the West Bank, erecting checkpoints and installing iron gates at the entrances of Palestinian towns and cities.

According to the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, the number of military checkpoints and iron gates set up by the occupation across the West Bank has reached 898. This includes 18 gates installed since the beginning of 2025 and 146 gates erected after October 7, 2023.
