VALLETTA, April 16, 2025 (WAFA) – A group of wounded Palestinian children, accompanied by their relatives, arrived in Malta from the Gaza Strip to receive medical treatment at Malta's main public hospital.
Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela welcomed the children and their families, expressing deep sorrow over the targeting of innocent civilians and his sadness over the injuries sustained by the children, wishing them a speedy recovery.
During his visit, Abela affirmed Malta’s readiness to provide all necessary assistance, including medical care and education, during the children's stay in the country. He reiterated Malta’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and solidarity with the Palestinian people, affirming continued humanitarian aid and diplomatic efforts in international forums to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized that a two-state solution remains the only path to achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
For his part, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Malta, Fadi Hanania, praised Malta’s consistent and principled stance in support of the Palestinian cause and its advocacy for justice through its membership in the European Union.
He expressed hope that Malta would continue its efforts to pressure the Israeli occupation to end its massacres in the Gaza Strip and crimes in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, particularly the ongoing killings, raids, and military incursions in Palestinian towns and refugee camps.
Hanania also thanked the Prime Minister for his support and Malta's decision to host additional wounded Palestinians for treatment, affirming that they will return to help rebuild Gaza and reiterating the Palestinian people’s rejection of forced displacement
The families of the children emphasized the urgent need to end the aggression on Gaza. They shared their experiences and suffering, recounting the fear and trauma they endured, the repeated displacement they faced, the bombing of their tents, the severe injuries sustained by their children, and the loss of numerous family members.
The children's arrival in Malta is part of ongoing efforts led by the Embassy of the State of Palestine to secure medical treatment abroad for Gaza’s wounded children. The initiative is being carried out in coordination with the Maltese government and international and European humanitarian organizations.
