RAMALLAH, March 13, 2025 (WAFA) Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry Thursday welcomed a UN report stating that Israel committed “genocidal acts” against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The Ministry welcomed the report of Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, which documents in details the grave and systematic crimes and violations perpetrated by Israel, the occupying power, in the course of its genocidal aggression on the Gaza Strip, including sexual, reproductive and other forms of gender-based violence as a tool to repress, humiliate and undermine the dignity of the Palestinian people.
It stressed the conclusions of the report and the fact that Israel committed genocidal acts to be added to the list of unbearable violations and crimes that have been inflicted on the Palestinian people since the Nakba, while noting that the suffering inflicted on Palestinians was unacceptable and could not be tolerated and its perpetrators should be held accountable.
It commended the Commission of Inquiry for the tireless efforts it made to deliver justice and expose the truth while stressing the need to protect the Commission and guarantee its ability to continue its work away from any politically motivated pressures or attempts to cast doubt on its credibility.
It called on the international community to support the Commission and adhere to the conclusions and recommendations set out in the report and affirmed its rejection of any attempts to undermine the Commission’s work, characterizing such attempts as intended to grant Israel impunity, a step tantamount to complicity in the crime of genocide and that would encourage the perpetrators to commit further grave violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
It called on all states, international organizations, and civil society organizations (CSOs) to support the Commission of Inquiry and its mandate, implement its recommendations, and put an end to the policy of impunity bestowed on Israel.
It also called on them to take stringent legal, diplomatic, and economic measures to hold the perpetrators accountable, ensure Israel’s compliance with international law, and guarantee protection and justice to victims.
