Several Palestinians suffocate as Israeli forces suppress anti-colonial protest South of Nablus

NABLUS, January 31, 2025 (WAFA) -  Several Palestinian residents suffocated on Friday, as Israeli occupation forces violently dispersed a peaceful anti-colonial demonstration in the town of Beita, south of Nablus, according to local sources.

Sources informed WAFA that Israeli forces quelled the weekly anti-colonial Beita march with live ammunition and tear gas canisters, causing multiple cases of suffocation. They were all treated on-site.

According to the sources, Israeli forces attempted to seize Palestinian flags that were raised by the demonstrators.

Beita has been subjected to ongoing attacks by Israeli forces and colonists following the illegal establishment of the Evitar colonial outpost on the lands of Palestinian residents atop Mount Sabih, south of Beita.

Each Friday, residents of Beita and nearby villages gather for weekly protests against the establishment of the new colonial colony of Givat Eviatar on Jabal Sabih.
