Palestine and Antigua and Barbuda sign agreement on establishment of diplomatic relations

NEW YORK, Friday, June 14, 2024 (WAFA) – The State of Palestine and Antigua and Barbuda today signed an agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The agreement was signed by the State of Palestine’s Permanent Envoy to the United Nations Riyad Mansour and Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Foreign Relations Paul Chet Greene at the Office of the Permanent Observer Mission of the State of Palestine to the UN in New York.

Under the agreement, both parties underscored the commitment of their countries to the principles and purposes enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations as well as to the provisions of international law, particularly promoting international peace and security, respecting the sovereignty and independence of states, and non-intervention in the internal affairs of states.

Palestine’s envoy to the United Nations Masnour hailed this important diplomatic achievement and affirmed Palestine’s willingness to deepen relations of cooperation and friendly relations between both countries in all fields, which would contribute to the realization of peace and security, all states look forward to achieving.

Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Foreign Relations Greene said that it was his pleasure to reinforce cooperation with the State of Palestine as a step towards global peace and finding sustainable solutions to conflicts, which would guarantee prosperity for the Palestinian people and peoples of the world.

The agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations will be officially submitted to the Secretary General of the United Nations through an official memorandum of understanding signed by both parties and circulated to all diplomatic missions.
