STATES, Thursday, May 23, 2024 (WAFA) - The Republic of Iraq and Kuwait welcomed in separate statements today the decisions several European countries took to recognize the State of Palestine.
The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered these decisions as a significant initial step towards getting back the stolen Palestinian rights.
It stressed that stability in the region would only be achieved through the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended the decisions as positive steps that will contribute to implementing the relevant international resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the Arab Peace Initiative regarding enabling the Palestinian people to exercise self-determination and establish their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
It emphasized that all countries must follow suit to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.
