RIYADH, Wednesday, May 22, 2024 (WAFA) - The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed the positive decisions taken by the Kingdom of Norway, the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of Ireland to recognize the State of Palestine.
In a statement issued by the Saudi foreign ministry, the Kingdom appreciated these decisions taken by these countries, which it stressed confirms the international consensus on the inherent right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.
The Kingdom called on more countries to swiftly take the same stance, which would contribute to finding a reliable and irreversible path to achieve a just and lasting peace that fulfills the rights of the Palestinian people.
“The Kingdom reiterates its call to the international community, especially the permanent members of the Security Council that have not yet recognized the Palestinian State, to expedite the recognition of the Palestinian State based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. This will enable the Palestinian people to obtain their rightful aspirations and establish a just and comprehensive peace for all.”
