EU Chief: All States that have ratified the ICC statutes are bound to execute the Court’s decisions

BRUSSELS, Tuesday, May 21, 2021 (WAFA) - The European Union’s High Representative, Josep Borrell, said the mandate of the International Criminal Court (ICC), as an independent international institution, is to prosecute the most serious crimes under international law, stressing in a post on his X account that: “All States that have ratified the ICC statutes are bound to execute the Court’s decisions,”

Borrell's statement came in response to the ICC prosecutor's announcement that he is seeking arrest warrants against the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and other Israeli leaders for war crimes.
