DUBLIN, Monday, May 20, 2024 (WAFA) – Ireland will recognize Palestinian statehood before the end of this month, Simon Harris, Ireland’s premier, has confirmed.
Harris made the comments as he was delivering a speech in County Longford following the National Famine Commemoration event.
He said that his country's position on Middle East issues is clear, stressing the need to stop violence immediately and allow humanitarian aid to arrive without hindrance due to the humanitarian catastrophe occurring in Gaza.
Harris pointed out that Ireland is moving with countries that want to recognize the State of Palestine.
It is noteworthy that eight member states of the European Union recognize the State of Palestine, and these are Bulgaria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Cyprus, and Sweden.
