JERUSALEM, Friday, May 9, 2024 (WAFA) - The European Union Representative stressed in agreement with EU Member State, Canada, Norway, Switzerland, and United Kingdom Heads of Mission in Jerusalem and Ramallah their condemnation of the Israeli colonists’ two arson attacks on the UNRWA compound in occupied East Jerusalem on 9 May, which take place at a time of increasingly escalatory attacks and an incendiary campaign against the agency and the UN system at large.
They called on Israeli authorities to ensure the security and safety of UN staff and its premises in line with its obligations under international law and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
They stressed that UNRWA's services in Gaza and across the region are essential.
