Palestinian civil defense crews retrieve 283 bodies from mass graves in Khan Younis

GAZA, Monday, April 22, 2024 (WAFA) – Palestinian  civil defense and ambulance crews today have uncovered three mass graves, with 283 bodies found at the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis city in the southern Gaza Strip.

Rescue and ambulance crews today recovered the bodies of 73 martyrs from a mass grave at Nasser Medical Hospital, bringing the total number of civilians whose bodies have been found so far to 283 persons.

The bodies were found following Israeli troop withdrawal from the city, according to local sources.

Additionally, the majority of the bodies belonged to civilians from different ages and that the occupation forces killed them during their storming of the complex and buried them collectively inside it.

According to security sources, the majority of martyrs who had been buried in mass graves were women and children.

The occupation forces deliberately razed dozens of bodies and buried them before withdrawing from any area in the Gaza Strip.

In the meantime, sources indicated that hundreds of civilians have been reported missing following the Israeli offensive on Khan Younis.

Some 2,000 civilians have disappeared after the occupation forces withdrew from several areas in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier yesterday, the Civil Defense in Gaza announced that it had recovered the bodies of 210 martyrs who had been buried in a mass grave by the Israeli occupation forces inside the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis.

The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 7, 2023, has resulted in 34,151 documented Palestinian fatalities so far, with the majority being children and women. In addition, 77,084 injuries have been documented since the start of the onslaught.

In this context, thousands of people are still trapped under the rubble of destroyed houses and buildings, presumed dead, and that civil and ambulance crews are unable to reach them due to the ongoing Israeli shelling and a lack of adequate equipment.
