RAMALLAH, Saturday, April 13, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists Saturday evening renewed their attack on al-Mughayyir village, northeast of the West Bank city of Ramallah, torching several houses and vehicles, according to security sources.
They said that armed colonists stormed the village, opened fire on Palestinian civilians and set houses and vehicles ablaze, under full protection from the Israeli army.
Colonists also gathered at Wadi Ain Qiniya, northwest of Ramallah, and near Dura al-Qare‘ town.
Earlier, colonists, many of them armed, attacked the al-Mughayyir, wounding six villagers by live ammunition, including a villager who sustained critical wounds in the head. The other villagers sustained injuries in their lower extremities.
They set fire to a house belonging to Khamis Abu Alia as well as to a firefighting vehicle on its way to the village and opened fire at the funeral convoy of 25-year-old Jihad Abu Alia, who was killed Friday afternoon by colonist gunfire in the village.
Meanwhile, colonists attacked Palestinian vehicles near 'Ein Siniya, north of Ramallah, causing damage to a number of them.
Since Saturday morning, Israeli settlers have also attacked the towns of Silwad, Turmus Aya, Sinjil and Deir Dibwan.
Abu Alia bled to death after Israeli soldiers prevented ambulances from reaching the wounded.
During Friday’s rampage, settlers set fire to more than 40 Palestinian facilities and 50 vehicles in al-Mughayyir, causing nearby agricultural lands to catch fire as well.
Colonist violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
Colonist violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.
Over 700,000 Israeli colonists are living in colonies across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law.
