RAMALLAH, Friday, March 11, 2024 (WAFA) – The United Nations, the European Union and several countries around the world welcomed the appointment of Dr. Mohammed Mustafa as the new Palestinian prime minister and his assignment to form the new Palestinian government.
President Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday issued a presidential decree asking Dr. Mohammad Mustafa to form the nineteenth Palestinian government.
UN's Special Envoy for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, met today with the newly appointed Prime Minister and congratulated the Palestinian people and President on this timely appointment.
The UN official said he looks forward to continuing to work closely with the President, the new PM and his team to address the economic, humanitarian and political challenges across the occupied Palestinian Territory.
“At such a volatile time for the Palestinian national project, I encourage all efforts towards overcoming current challenges, including internal divisions,” he said on the X platform.
The European Union Representative to the State of Palestine, Alexandre Stutzmann, also welcomed the appointment of Dr. Muhammad Mustafa as the new Prime minister as well as his assignment to form the new Palestinian government.
Meanwhile, US National Security Council Spokesperson Adrienne Watson welcomed the appointment of Dr. Mohammed Mustafa as Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority and urged the formation of a reform cabinet as soon as possible.
Russia, Germany, France, Britain, Holland and Norway also welcomed the appointment of Dr. Mohammed Mustafa as the new Palestinian prime minister and his assignment to form the new Palestinian government.
