UNRWA Commissioner-General: Once again I call for a ceasefire in Gaza for the sake of humanity

NEW YORK, Wednesday, November 8, 2023 (WAFA) - Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner General for the UN Refugees and Works Agency (UNRWA) renewed his call for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip after a month of brutal Israeli aggression against it, stating: “Once again I call for a ceasefire for the sake of humanity.”

He expressed great pain over the 92 UNRWA colleagues who were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. “We are never going to be the same without them,” he posted on X.

He noted that almost 50 UNRWA buildings and assets have been impacted in Gaza, with some being directly hit.

He said that that schools have become shelters and children were asking for a sip of water and a loaf of bread, stressing that the longer children lose out on education, the more difficult it will be to compensate and make up for that loss.

UNRWA noted that nearly 300,000 Palestine Refugee children are deprived of education in the Strip as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression against it.
