Egyptian, Jordanian leaders reject forced displacement of Palestinians

CAIRO, Thursday, October 19, 2023 (WAFA) – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Jordan's King Abdullah II affirmed today their strong rejection of any forced displacement of Palestinians to Egypt or Jordan, warning of the grave regional security implications such a move would entail.

Speaking on the heels of a Jordanian-Egyptian summit held in Cairo this afternoon, the two leaders emphasized the critical need for the sustained delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing.

President El-Sisi and King Abdullah II showcased their dedicated efforts to promote de-escalation and peace in the region, underlining their commitment to securing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people as a prerequisite for genuine and lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.

They also affirmed their commitment to the establishment of an independent state of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the relevant international resolutions.
