Egypt, Jordan condemn, in strongest terms, Israeli bombardment of al-Ahli hospital in Gaza

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, October 17, 2023 (WAFA) – Egypt and Jordan tonight condemned, in the strongest terms, the shelling of al-Ahli hospital in Gaza by the Israeli occupation warplanes, which left hundreds of innocent people killed and injured.

The Egyptian foreign ministry, in a statement, slammed this deliberate bombardment of civilian facilities and targets as a serious violation of the provisions of humanitarian and international law and the most basic human values, calling on Israel to immediately stop its collective punishment policies committed against the people of the Strip.

Egypt urged the countries of the world, especially major and influential powers, to intervene to stop these violations and condemn them unequivocally as well as to demand Israel stop targeting the vicinity of Rafah crossing with Egypt in order to enable Egypt and other countries and international and relief organizations to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, Jordan denounced, in the strongest terms, the Israeli airstrike that targeted al-Ahly Hospital, holding Israel, the occupying power, responsible for this serious development.

The spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry, Sufyan Qudah, said the Kingdom rejects and denounces this act, which contradicts all human and moral values, and the rules of international humanitarian law, especially the Fourth Geneva Convention relating to the rules of war, according to Jordan’s Petra news agency.

The spokesperson called for providing international protection for the Palestinian people, stressing the need to join efforts to immediately stop the raging war in Gaza.

He expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
