AMMAN, October 7, 2023 (WAFA) – The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs reiterated its calls today for a genuine political horizon to achieve peace in Palestine based on the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
This solution, it said, aims to put an end to the occupation and establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital along the pre-June 1967 lines, ensuring security and peace alongside Israel. The ministry also called for the cessation of Israeli actions that perpetuate the occupation and undermine the prospects for a just and comprehensive peace.
The ministry expressed grave concern over the dangerous escalation and warned of its potentially severe repercussions, particularly in light of Israeli attacks and violations against the Palestinian people, as well as against Islamic and Christian holy sites. Jordan stressed that these actions have deprived the Palestinian people of their rights.
Sufyan Qudah, the official spokesperson for the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Jordan's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Safadi, has been engaged in intensive talks with regional and international counterparts to explore urgent and effective international efforts to halt all forms of escalation and protect the region from the consequences of a new cycle of violence.
