RAMALLAH, Wednesday, October 4, 2023 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates today condemned the Israeli occupation authorities’ decision to close the main Hawara road for Palestinian vehicles while allowing only settler vehicles to pass, considering it implementation of what the fascist Israeli cabinet minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, said that the movement of settlers is more important than the freedom of the Palestinians.
The Foreign Ministry made this statement after the Israeli occupation authorities decided today to force all Palestinian shops on the Hawara road, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, to close and prevent Palestinian vehicles from passing on that road claiming that stones are being thrown at settlers’ vehicles on the road.
The Ministry said it takes this decision very seriously “as it embodies a policy of segregation and apartheid that divides the West Bank into Bantustans and gives settlers the largest area of the West Bank to entrench settlements under the pretext of movement and flimsy security pretexts, all of which contribute to the occupation’s policy aimed at annexing the West Bank and imposing Israeli control over more Palestinian land.”
It said the flimsy international reaction to Ben Gvir’s remarks at the time “is a shameful international complicity” with the Israeli occupation’s policy of annexation, apartheid and crimes against the Palestinian people.
