NEW YORK, Friday, September 22, 2023 (WAFA) - Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh praised President Mahmoud Abbas’s speech before the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly yesterday, saying it confirm the narrative of the original owners of the land in the face of the narrative of the invaders, which he stressed reveals to the world the extent of its falsity, fragility, and reliance on excess power and arrogance in a desperate attempt to promote it.
Shtayyeh considered the president spoke directly to the international community regarding its inability to implement international resolutions issued over 75 years of the conflict.
He stressed the importance of the President’s warning against the illusion of peace in the region as long as the Palestinian people are not able to obtain their legitimate rights, foremost of which is their right to establish their independent state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital.
Shtayyeh said that the president’s assertion that it is impossible for Israel to obtain both peace and land requires the world not to be deceived by Israel’s claims of its keenness for peace, because what Israel is talking about is nothing but a deceptive peace as long as the Palestinian people are not able to obtain their freedom, establish their state, and without the withdrawal of the occupation from Its land in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
The prime minister also stressed that the President's call to convene an international peace conference would save the world from double standards, affirm the values of truth, justice, and freedom, and restore to our people their rights stolen by the arrogance of power.
