CAIRO, Tuesday, June 13, 2023 (WAFA) - The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, today warned of the Israeli occupation government's implementation of plans to build thousands of settlement units in the occupied West Bank, calling on the United States to take a firm position from these plans.

Aboul Gheit said in a statement in reaction to Israeli plans to build more than 4000 housing units in West Bank settlements that such plans undermine the two-state solution by gnawing away at the lands on which the future Palestinian state should be established.

He called on the US administration to take a firm stand against the Israeli plans in defense of the two-state solution that Washington is promoting, stressing that settlements undermine peace and that it is not possible to talk about a settlement between the Palestinians and the Israelis or about peace in the region while the Palestinian lands are being gnawed away every day.
