Jordan condemns demolition of Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem considering it a violation of international law

AMMAN, Thursday, February 2, 2023 (WAFA) - The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates today condemned Israeli occupation authorities' demolition of Palestinian homes in occupied East Jerusalem and displacement of their residents, as well as attacks against Christian presence in Jerusalem, the latest was the attack today on Prison of Christ church in Jerusalem's Old City.

The ministry warned in a statement against expelling Palestinians in Khan al-Ahmar community, east of Jerusalem, from their homes, considering the displacement of people a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

It also stressed the need to stop all unilateral measures that undermine the two-state solution and perpetuate Israel's occupation.

It said stopping the violence that perpetuates despair and fuels extremism requires halting the dangerous deterioration in the Palestinian territories by joining efforts to restore confidence in a feasible peace process, which comes by resuming serious and effective negotiations to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution so that all parties will enjoy security and peace and leads to the establishment of the independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
