WASHINGTON, Thursday, November 10, 2022 (WAFA) – Two Palestinian Americans made history in the US midterm elections after they became the first Palestinian Muslims to win seats in their state’s House of Representatives.
Ruwa Rumman won a seat for the Democratic Party in the Georgia State House of Representatives elections, and Abdel Nasser Rashid also won a seat in the Illinois State House of Representatives elections for the Democratic Party.
Palestinian-American congresswoman Rashida Tlaib also retained her seat in the US House of Representatives for the Democratic Party after winning 73.7 percent of votes in Michigan against Republican candidate Steven Elliott.
This is Tlaib’s third term in the US Congress.
