MADRID, Sunday, January 17, 2021 (WAFA) - The government of Spain welcomed President Abbas' decree to hold legislative, presidential, and National Council elections on three phases later this year.
The Spanish government expressed in a statement its confidence that these elections will strengthen the democratic process in Palestine and the legitimacy of its institutions.
Spain stressed that elections, which are held with full guarantees and in accordance with international principles, can be helpful to the negotiations and achieving a just and lasting solution on the basis of the two-state solution.
The Spanish government called on Israel to facilitate the holding of elections across all the Palestinian territories.
