CAIRO, Tuesday, December 15, 2020 (WAFA) - Egypt condemned today the Israeli occupation authorities' approval to build around 8300 new settlement housing units in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
Ahmed Hafez, the spokesman of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, slammed in a statement the Israeli settlement construction announcement as another violation of the resolutions of international legitimacy and relevant United Nations Security Council.
The Israeli occupation authorities have approved the building of thousands of new colonial-settler units at the expense of seized Palestinian land extending from Beit Safafa neighborhood to al-Walaja village, south of Jerusalem.
The implementation of the settlement construction plan, which involves building towers up to 30 floors high, is scheduled to begin by 2021, and work will continue until 2040.
