RAMALLAH, Thursday, December 03, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday overnight detained 11 Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, according to the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
It confirmed in a press release that Israeli forces rounded up three Palestinians from the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem.
Two of the three detainees were identified as residents of Dheisha refugee camp, south of the city, and the other as a resident of Beit Jala city, west of Bethlehem.
In Jerusalem district, Israeli military vehicles stormed al-Eizariya town, southeast of the city, where soldiers detained two brothers after ransacking their houses.
In the northern West Bank, PPS confirmed separate two raids in Qalqilia and Jenin districts, resulting in the detention of two, including a former prisoner.
In Tubas district, Israeli troops barged their way into Tayaseer village, northeast of the city, where they rounded four Palestinians, and held them for several hours before eventually releasing them.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
