RAMALLAH, June 16, 2026 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Presidency warned of the seriousness of a move announced by a minister in Israel’s right-wing government to cancel the Hebron agreements related to the Ibrahimi Mosque area and transfer related powers from the Hebron municipality.
The Presidency said the step affects the political and legal status of the city of Hebron and the bilateral agreements concerning it.
It stressed that such unilateral measures are rejected and condemned, and constitute a violation of signed agreements with the Israeli side, as well as a breach of international law and international legitimacy, which prohibit altering the status quo in the occupied territory of the State of Palestine.
The Presidency called on the international community, particularly the United States administration, to intervene immediately and compel Israeli authorities to reverse what it described as a highly dangerous decision.
It warned that the move undermines the political process, the two-state solution, and international efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region and creating the conditions necessary for advancing a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders.
