RAMALLAH, Sunday, November 29, 2020 (WAFA) – Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida focused today on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People which coincides on November 29 every year, the day when the United Nations approved the so-called Partition Plan for Palestine in 1947.
Al-Ayyam, however, focused on the situation of the coronavirus pandemic in Palestine. It said in its main news story that 1461 new coronavirus infections and 15 deaths were reported yesterday by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The same news was reported by both al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida but at a lower level of the first page.
Al-Ayyam said Mr. Hakam Balawi, a former member of the Central Committee of Fatah Movement, passed away yesterday at the age of 82. Al-Hayat al-Jadida said President Mahmoud Abbas mourned Balawi as a freedom fighter who spent his life in the struggle for freedom and independence of Palestine.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said a Palestinian child was injured last night after being shot by Israeli occupation soldiers in the village of Silwad, to the northeast of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.
Al-Quds said a Palestinian young man was injured yesterday by a rubber-coated bullet in the head during clashes with Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank village of Kafr Qaddum.
Al-Ayyam said Iranian President Hassan Rouhani accused Israel of killing high-ranking Iranian nuclear physicist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, long suspected by the West of masterminding a secret nuclear bomb program.
The three dailies said thousands of Israelis demonstrated last night for the sixth month across Israel demanding their Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to step down over long-running corruption charges.
