RAMALLAH, Tuesday, October 13, 2020 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh said that the relations between Palestine and Mauritania remain firm, deep, and based on a shared position and fate.
This came during a telephone call with his Mauritanian counterpart, Mohamed Ould Bilal, during which they discussed the latest political developments regarding the Palestinian issue and continued Israeli occupation’s attacks against the Palestinian people and their land.
Shtayyeh congratulated Bilal on assuming office, wishing him and his government success in serving the Mauritanian people and conveying President Mahmoud Abbas’ greetings to the president of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani.
He said: “At a time when some Arab governments have given priority to narrow interests over the Arab strategic position by normalizing with Israel, Mauritania has affirmed its commitment to the Arab Peace Initiative and the Palestinian issue.”
For his part, the Mauritanian premier affirmed his country’s support to the Palestinian people and their just cause, extending his invitation to Shtayyeh to visit Mauritania in order to promote joint coordination on various issues.
