RAMALLAH, Saturday, October 10, 2020 (WAFA) – Arson by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank and developments with the coronavirus pandemic in Palestine, the region and the world were highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
The papers said Israeli settlers set fire to olive groves in the north of the West Bank as the olive harvest season in Palestine starts destroying hundreds of olive trees in Safa village near Ramallah.
In Beit Dajan village, in the north of the West Bank, the papers published a picture of Israeli soldiers showering Palestinians engaged in tree planting activity with teargas.
The soldiers also attacked Palestinians protesting the Israeli occupation and settlement activities in several locations in the West Bank, said the papers.
On coronavirus, the papers said nine people have died of the disease in Palestine yesterday and 498 new cases were recorded.
Al-Quds said in its front-page story that the Israeli occupation authorities prevented thousands of Muslims from reaching Al-Aqsa Mosque for the Friday prayers as it closed the Old City of Jerusalem to anyone who does not live in it under the pretext of imposing coronavirus restrictions.
Al-Ayyam said Palestinian official Saeb Erekat is recuperating at home after showing serious symptoms of the coronavirus disease.
It said Jordan recorded 22 corona deaths and Israel 12.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted Foreign Minister Riyad Malki saying the critical political situation in Palestine is due to the serious shortcomings of the international system, whereby the international community only condemns rather than takes action to prevent the Israeli violations of the Palestinian human rights.
Al-Quds daily said a Hamas delegation arrived in Moscow for official talks.
The three papers reported on the fires caused as a result of the hot and dry weather in Palestine yesterday and over the past few days.
