RAMALLAH, Saturday, September 12, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestinian and other reactions to the announcement that Bahrain is going to establish diplomatic relations with Israel dominated the front-page headlines in the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
All the papers highlighted the Palestinian condemnation of the move as a betrayal of Jerusalem and the Palestinian cause and said that Palestine has recalled its ambassador to Bahrain for consultation.
They also highlighted condemnation of the Palestinian factions as well as other countries and also said that Egypt and the United Arab Emirates have welcomed the move, as reported in al-Ayyam daily.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said that peace in the region can only be achieved by ending the Israeli occupation.
The three papers reported on the Israeli army crackdown on the weekly anti-occupation Palestinian protests.
Al-Quds said six Palestinians were injured in the Israeli army crackdown and that Palestinians in the Ramallah-area village of Sinjil succeeded in preventing Israeli settlers from setting up an illegal colony on their lands.
Al-Ayyam said the United Nations has expressed concern over the large number of Israeli demolition of Palestinian homes this year.
Coronavirus and its toll in Palestine and neighboring countries and the world were also highlighted on the front page of the three dailies.
Al-Quds said eight people have died of the disease and 652 new cases were reported in the West Bank and Gaza yesterday.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said coronavirus was spreading quickly in the Arab towns inside Israel.
Al-Ayyam said 15 deaths and over 3000 new cases were recorded in Israel yesterday.
