RAMALLAH, Thursday, September 10, 2020 (WAFA) – Today’s temperature is set to rise and approach 7°C above the seasonal average, causing the heavy heat wave to intensify, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).
Dry and unseasonably hot conditions are expected in daytime and mild to relatively hot conditions in nighttime. Light to moderate northwesterly to northeasterly wind blows. Sea waves are low.
Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 35°C and a low of 23°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 34°C and a low of 22°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 43°C and a low of 31°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 34°C and a low of 25°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.
Friday’s temperature is set to drop and approach 5°C above the seasonal average, causing the extreme heat stress to slightly abate.
The heat stress is set to further slightly abate as temperature is set to further slightly drop and approach 4°C above the seasonal average.
Sunday’s temperature is set to further drop by 1°C, causing a relief in the heat stress, mainly in mountainous districts.
PMD warns people against direct exposure to the sun for long period, especially from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, as well as against setting fire to dry grassy areas.
