RAMALLAH, Saturday, September 5, 2020 (WAFA) – The extreme heatwave that hit Palestine last week is expected to continue today as well and most of next week with temperature today reaching 11°C above the seasonal average, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).
Wind is light to moderate, northwesterly to northeasterly, and sea waves are low.
Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 39°C and a low of 27°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 38°C and a low of 26°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 46°C and a low of 32°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 36°C and a low of 25°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.
Temperature drops by only one degree on Sunday and Monday as the heatwave continues to affect the region.
However, another drop in temperature is expected on Tuesday, yet temperature remains 5 to 6°C above the average, said the PMD, which warned people against direct exposure to the sun for long period, especially from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, as well as against setting fire to dry grass areas.
