Weather forecast: Heavy to extreme heat stress continues

 

RAMALLAH, Friday, September 4, 2020 (WAFA) – Friday’s temperature is set to remain 12°C above the seasonal average as the heavy to extreme heat stress continues to affect the region, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Dry and hot to extremely hot conditions are expected in daytime, and relatively hot to hot conditions in nighttime. Light to moderate northwesterly to northeasterly wind blows. Sea waves are low.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 41°C and a low of 27°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 40°C and a low of 26°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 47°C and a low of 32°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 36°C and a low of 26°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

A slight drop is expected in temperature on Saturday, yet the heavy to extreme heat stress continues to affect the region, paving the way to dry and extremely hot conditions in daytime and hot conditions in nighttime.

A further slight drop in temperature is expected on Sunday, yet the heavy to extreme heat stress continues to prevail.

Monday’s temperature is set to remain steady, paving the way to dry and extremely hot conditions in daytime and hot conditions in nighttime.

PMD warns people against direct exposure to the sun for long period, especially from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, as well as against setting fire to dry grassy areas.
