RAMALLAH, Wednesday, September 02, 2020 (WAFA) – The heavy heat stress is set to continue today, paving the way to dry and hot conditions in mountainous districts and very hot conditions in other districts in daytime, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).
No significant change is expected in temperature which remains around 4°C above the seasonal average. Weather tonight is mild in mountainous districts and relatively hot to hot in other districts. Light to moderate northwesterly wind blows. Sea waves are low.
Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 32°C and a low of 21°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 31°C and a low of 20°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 41°C and a low of 28°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 31°C and a low of 24°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.
Thursday’s temperature is set to significantly rise and approach 9°C above the seasonal average, causing the heat stress to intensify.
A further rise is expected in temperature which approaches 11°C on Friday, intensifying the already heavy heat stress and paving the way to extremely hot and dry conditions.
No significant change is expected in the weather conditions on Saturday.
PMD warns people against direct exposure to the sun for long period, especially from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, as well as against setting fire to dry grassy areas.
