TEHRAN, Sunday, August 16, 2020 (WAFA) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned yesterday that his country will react differently if the United Arab Emirates brings Israelis to the region, describing the Emirati-Israeli agreement as a "betrayal" to the Palestinian people and cause.
Speaking at a session of the National Coronavirus Combat and Prevention Headquarters, Rouhani referred to the UAE’s decision to normalize ties with the Israeli regime as a "big mistake".
He said the Emirati rulers have entered a "wrong path and think that if they approach America or the Zionist regime, their security will increase and their economy will grow, but this is totally wrong."
Rouhani pointed out that the timing of the announcement and the fact that the US announced it is because of Trump’s election campaigns.
"We hope that they [UAE] would rectify this mistake and note that this is a wrong path that is neither to the interest of the rulers nor their security," he said.
"We warn them against bringing Israel to the region. [If that happens] that would be another story and they will be dealt with in another way."
Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that the project of the normalizing ties with the Israeli regime has revealed the true face of the UAE rulers.
"The humiliating compromise of the UAE rulers with the criminal Zionist regime is a clear betrayal to the human values, Islamic teachings, Islamic Ummah, and the Palestinian cause," Ghalibaf told the Parliament’s open session on Sunday.
"Those who seek to establish friendly ties with the Zionist regime are considered traitors by all the Islamic Ummah and are complicit in all of the regime’s crimes in the past and future."
